Building a house for a family is one option for missions teams visiting Vicente Guerrero. Welcome Home co-directors will identify and screen potential families and do all the required preparation work for house projects.
A cement-block structure, approximately 16’ x 24’ is the typical house build. Construction will be supervised by Steve Scott, or one of our construction interns. Cost for a house build is $3,500 (no plumbing or electrical). House project money must be brought in cash by the team leader.
Teams who elect to build a house must be comprised of at least five adults who can put in a minimum of five days of hard work. For youth groups, Welcome Home requires a ratio of one adult (21 or older) to five students.
Welcome Home requires that all persons on construction sites wear long pants and close-toed shoes (work boots or tennis shoes). Absolutely no sandals or shorts on construction sites. This is for your own safety. Workers may want to bring a sun hat, sunscreen and gloves, as well as their own personal water container (which may be refilled each day at Welcome Home).
