The primary day-to-day operation of Casa Hogar Bienvenidos is a Christian preschool for children ages 2-6 years. The majority of our children come from migrant camp homes where a single mom is working in the fields to provide for her family. Without our daycare, these preschoolers would likely be left in the care of older siblings (7 to 10 year olds).
Welcome Home staff transport the children to and from our facility every day, Monday through Friday. The children arrive around 7:00 a.m. and are greeted by our teachers who provide hygiene care as necessary. The children gather in the dining hall for breakfast, then return to their classrooms where Christian instruction is given in areas such as colors, numbers, letters, and personal hygiene, as well as Bible stories and songs.
Lunch is served to the children, followed by naps and activities; then the children are returned to their homes around 3:00 p.m.
Our five-year olds attend public Kindergarten during the school year. They are dressed in their school uniforms and escorted to the public school where they spend 2-1/2 hours each morning and return to Welcome Home in time for lunch.
